Writing Style for Your Master Dissertation
Writing style at higher education is important, especially when students need to write a master dissertation and get a distinction grade. Writing up a master dissertation is different from writing any kind of academic assignment, as the quality of your master dissertation will result in whether you get your degree or not. There are some main points of writing style, which students need to bear in mind while writing up their dissertations.
1. While writing up a good paper you need to avoid much of the conversational expression and informality of daily communication. Also, you should exclude excessive technical language. Dissertation writing must be presented in a concise and clear style.
2. You should use such nouns as “researcher” in your dissertation writing. It is because such words are preferred in academic writing, because they are more transparent and accurate than such first person terms as “me” or “I.”
3. In case English is not the first language of yours, it is recommended to have your dissertation proofread by native speakers in order to correct grammatical errors before submitting it.
4. While planning your paper writing, you should ignore the verb and language agreement. Still, when you begin to write, you need to spend much time correcting spelling errors and ensuring your grammar and others are correct. The more time you dedicate to rewriting your document, the better your paper and writing skills will become. It is because you can state the best of your thoughts – not only the final ideas.
